HMAS Stalwart makes inaugural visit home port

The Supply Class vessel has arrived in Geraldton for the first visit to its ceremonial home port.

The Supply Class vessel has arrived in Geraldton for the first visit to its ceremonial home port.

Auxiliary oiler replenishment vessel HMAS Stalwart embarked in the City of Greater Geraldton, Western Australia on Friday, 24 June.

This represents a significant milestone since the Supply Class ship entered service with the Royal Australian Navy in November 2021, marking the inaugural visit to its ceremonial home port.

As part of a longstanding tradition, the ship’s officers and sailors marched in a Freedom of Entry parade throughout the city on Saturday, 25 June.

The AOR was also open to the public for guided tours on Sunday, 26 June.

HMAS Stalwart was initially scheduled to visit in March 2022, however, the visit was postponed after crew were deployed for Operation Flood Assist on the East Coast of Australia.

Along with sister ship HMAS Supply, HMAS Stalwart is expected to provide logistics support to a range of naval combat units at sea, extending the time a task group can spend at sea.

In May, HMAS Parramatta received HMAS Stalwart’s padded fuel line for its first replenishment at sea.

HMAS Stalwart’s homeport is Fleet Base West in Rockingham, Western Australia while HMAS Supply, commissioned in April 2021, is based at Fleet Base East in Sydney, NSW.
