  • waste management;

  • land management;
  • transport;
  • access control and security; and
  • other day-to-day sustainment activities.

Assistant Minister for Defence Matt Thistlethwaite said the contracts would contribute approximately $1.7 billion to the economy each year.

“Base services are essential to enabling and helping sustain the Defence estate, its capability and our people,” Minister Thistlethwaite said.

“...This is a unique opportunity for Australian industry to demonstrate their capability and commitment to the Defence mission.”

Defence has urged small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Indigenous businesses, and social and veteran enterprises to consider bidding for the contracts.

“Base services provide significant employment opportunities, contributing to a strong and resilient domestic Defence industry,” Assistant Minister Thistlethwaite added.

The RFP closes on 16 December 2022.

Existing contracts are set to expire in mid-2024.
