NSW employers recognised for outstanding support to Reserves

The Defence Reserves Support Council has acknowledged eight NSW employers for exceptional support to Australian Defence Force Reservists.

The Defence Reserves Support Council has acknowledged eight NSW employers for exceptional support to Australian Defence Force Reservists.

Acting Head of Reserve and Youth Division, Brigadier Duncan Hayward, CSC, said the awards allowed Defence to acknowledge employers who had been particularly supportive of their employees undertaking Reserve service.

"It is a huge testament to these businesses to be acknowledged by their staff as an employer of choice," BRIG Hayward said.

O’Brien, Connors and Kennett Lawyers was named winner of the Employer Support Award for the Small Private Sector category. They were nominated by Australian Army Reservist Lieutenant and Associate Lawyer Clare Wainwright.

The DRSC was established to promote the benefits of Reserve service to employers and the community, and create an effective link between the community, employers, Reservists, the ADF, and all levels of government.

The mission of the DRSC is to establish and maintain a flexible and supportive partnership between Defence and the community, industry and employers to sustain and enhance the availability of the Reserve component of the ADF.

At its broadest level, the DRSC comprises a national executive, state and territory chairs and the national council. DRSC members are selected in recognition of their place in the community (including business) and their ability to advocate issues relating to the interactions between employers, Reservists, and the community in general.
