The University of New South Wales (UNSW) will deliver tertiary education and training at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) for the next seven years under a renewed partnership agreement.

The Morrison government said the investment will ensure the Australian Defence Force’s future leaders are equipped with a world-class education, and the rigorous and strategic thinking needed to tackle contemporary and future operations.
Minister for Defence Linda Reynolds praised the 50-year partnership between Defence and UNSW that has made ADFA an exemplar in military studies.
“The university first began delivering educational programs at the Faculty of Military Studies, at the Royal Military College in Duntroon in 1967,” Minister Reynolds said.
“This new agreement will reinforce and invigorate the strong partnership between Defence, the Academy and UNSW.
“The university will continue to provide the future leaders of the Australian Defence Force with the foundational knowledge and high-level skills essential for their military profession.”
The first agreement between Defence and UNSW was achieved in 1967 as the RAN College, enabling the university to introduce one-year courses for arts, science and engineering, with successful cadets sponsored by the RAN to complete bachelor's degrees on the university's campus.
