The South Australian government has provided over four hectares of government-owned land on the northern LeFevre Peninsula at the Osborne Naval Shipyard to managing construction contractor Laing O’Rourke.

A total of over six hectares of land outside the shipyard is now being developed by private businesses to support the Commonwealth's major $1.2 billion infrastructure upgrade of the precinct to make way for the build of major naval shipbuilding projects.
The land will be used to provide additional room for the build and delivery of Australia’s next-generation submarines and surface ships.
South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said leasing the land to Laing O’Rourke will expedite Australia’s continuous naval shipbuilding program and highlights the state’s ardent and ongoing commitment to the project.
"The state government has been working with Australian Naval Infrastructure to ensure that the Commonwealth has sufficient land upon which to develop a world-class shipyard for surface ships and submarines in South Australia," said Premier Marshall.
A review is currently being undertaken by independent planning consultants and focuses on preparing an updated master plan for the northern LeFevre Peninsula
Premier Marshall added, "This has facilitated the Commonwealth’s ongoing enhancements to Osborne Naval Shipyard, putting it at the forefront of world-leading shipyard capabilities and creating hundreds of construction and design jobs for South Australians.
"We also need to ensure that there is further land available for private-sector businesses to establish supporting operations immediately adjacent to the shipyard."
Renewal SA continues to market serviced industrial allotments through agents Jones Lang LaSalle and CBRE, with those allotments targeted at businesses who are seeking to undertake naval shipbuilding or related activities.
"The review is expected to be completed later this year and has already identified that there is over 80 hectares of industry-zoned land in the immediate vicinity of the shipyard to accommodate the current and future naval shipbuilding and sustainment activities," explained Premier Marshall.
