Sydney-based consultancy ITNewcom has scooped a $30 million contract with the Department of Defence.

Defence has also awarded a further $10.5 million worth of contracts to Dell and IBM.
“The SIE encompasses Defence’s information, computing and communications infrastructure, along with the management systems and people to deliver that infrastructure,” IBM explained to ARN.
This platform will allow the federal government and multiple industry partners to host, operate and exchange the range of tools required to deliver continuous naval shipbuilding. The awards come amid Defence’s $20 billion investment into its ICT services strategy over the next 10 years.
This forms part of a shift towards efficient, scalable ‘Single Information Environment’ architecture with standardised business processes and a reduced cost of ownership for ICT. This includes a $600 million upgrade of its Navy IT environment, of which Data#3 was the latest deal recipient.
In 2017, the Department of Defence released a formal request for tender to establish a new panel of ICT service providers.
The Information Communication and Technology Provider Arrangement (ICTPA) replaced the Applications Managed Services Partnership Arrangement (AMSPA) scheme.
ICTPA covers three top-level areas: Systems integration; application services, including development, maintenance, support and service management; and ICT services, which includes the entire gamut of services described by Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) 6.0.
The initial term of the panel is expected to be five years, with a three-year extension option and an additional two-year extension option.
ITNewcom provides services in strategic advisory, benchmarking and analytics, negotiating and strategic sourcing, complex transition management, and ongoing IT supply and management.
