The global defence contractor has made changes to its leadership team, appointing a new vice president and chief sustainability officer.

The global defence contractor has made changes to its leadership team, appointing a new vice president and chief sustainability officer.

Michael Witt, corporate director, EH&S and sustainability at materials science company Dow, has been appointed as Northrop Grumman’s vice president and chief sustainability officer, effective 9 August.

Witt, who will report to chairman, CEO and president Kathy Warden, will be charged with leading the prime’s sustainability initiatives, including designing and implementing enterprise-wide business practices for carbon reduction, resource efficiency and materials management.

“Northrop Grumman is committed to strong ESG practices and effectively managing and reducing our environmental impact,” the company stated,

Witt’s career at Dow spanned over two decades, beginning in 1998, and included stints as director, energy and climate change; director, remediation and regulatory affairs, Europe and Asia-Pacific; and corporate director, plastics Circular Economy.

Witt has a PHD in environmental engineering.
