Leonardo Australia secures Part 145 approval

Leonardo Australia has announced that its Essendon Fields service centre has received Part 145 approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Leonardo Australia has announced that its Essendon Fields service centre has received Part 145 approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Maintenance organisations that hold a Part 145 approval provide services that meet the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR).

Part 145 maintenance approval is an enhanced regulatory standard based on safety management system (SMS) aimed at achieving the highest level of aviation safety performance, Leonardo said.

The company said this approval demonstrates its commitment to providing the highest level of quality management and service excellence to its customers and further expanding its capability.

“We are proud of this achievement, which demonstrates Leonardo Australia’s commitment to the highest safety and training standards for its customers and employees,” said Giorgio Mantegazza, managing director of Leonardo Australia.

“This approval is the result of hard work and efforts of the Australian team and represents further evidence of the in-country investments of Leonardo.”

Leonardo Australia currently supports over 110 commercial and military products for more than 30 customers within Oceania.

The company’s Essendon Fields service centre opened in 2017, to serve the company’s growing fleet of AgustaWestland helicopters in Australasia.

The Essendon service centre supports customers through the provision of OEM technical advice, maintenance services and logistics support.

The facility is able to hangar up to eight AW139s and has been designed to improve the company’s capability to support its expanding customer base in the region and increase the availability of spare parts.
