The prime has confirmed that it has entered into a three year agreement with Legacy Australia to help families of Australian Defence Force service personnel, signing up to the charity as a Foundation Partner.

Under the collaboration, the prime has pledged to support education and employment opportunities for the partners, children and widows of current and former servicepeople via the Legacy Australia Grant Fund.

It is expected that the BAE Systems Australia would help Legacy Australia raise up to $10 million via site-based fundraising initiatives and encouraging employees to support Legacy during their paid volunteer leave.

“As a previous serving member of the Australian Defence Force, I understand first-hand the sacrifices that our veterans make to protect our country. Behind every veteran is a family that often makes many sacrifices of their own and in some cases the ultimate sacrifice,” Ben Hudson, BAE Systems Australia chief executive officer.

“BAE Systems is committed to making sure that the families of veterans are not left behind and that they are not left feeling isolated or alone. They deserve the chance to thrive despite all they have endured.”

BAE Systems Australia further announced their intention to support The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay 2023. The 55,000 km relay includes 1,500 torch bearers, scheduled to commence on Anzac Day 2023.

Graham Boyd, chief executive officer of Legacy Australia, welcomed the prime's ongoing support.

“Legacy Australia Inc is delighted to be working with BAE systems through a generous grant for educational, development and leadership programs for Legacy beneficiaries, as well as being a Foundation partner for the Legacy Torch Relay,” Boyd said.
