APV Engineering and Testing appoints new operations manager

Melbourne’s APV Engineering and Testing Services, which specialises in defence safety restraints, appointed a new operations manager this week.

Melbourne’s APV Engineering and Testing Services, which specialises in defence safety restraints, appointed a new operations manager this week.

APV Engineering and Testing Services recently appointed Lindsay Mitchell as operations manager, reporting to Carl Liersch, APV-T’s general manager. It is hoped that the new appointment will broaden the capabilities and experience of the APV team to continue providing enhanced vehicle, seating and shock testing capabilities.

“I am really pleased to have Lindsay with his depth of skills onto the team with a great mix of management, CAE, test and evaluation expertise,” Harry Hickling, managing director of APV, said.

“Lindsay brings deep engineering, safety, crash and mechanical testing experience to the role with over 20 years in the automotive industry within GM Holden and Vinfast Australia.”

According to a statement released by the company, Mitchell oversaw all Vinfast vehicle validation test operations, sub-system and component level data acquisition and rig tests in Australia and China before joining APV, as well as working as GMH vehicle safety manager managing the development, global approval and execution of Holden’s safety strategy ensuring that Holden maintained a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

Mitchell is expected to bring his expertise in vehicle durability and testing in road load data acquisition, strategy and execution, as well as carbon fibre design, CAE and destructive testing to enhance APV’s offering.

“[Lindsay] is an excellent fit for our team and I can't think of a more experienced team in vehicle safety and durability now being led by Carl and Lindsay,” Hickling said.
