Skyborne Technologies has delivered its CHAOS 12GA weapon payload system to the UK’s Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA).

Skyborne Technologies has delivered its CHAOS 12GA weapon payload system to the UK’s Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA).

The contract between the company and the DASA was part of a competition to develop and test unmanned systems in urban environments, with the CHAOS expected to provide enhanced lethality and protection to war fighters while improving their combat situational awareness.

The CHAOS 12GA is equipped with a 10-shot 12 gauge shotgun system, integrated into Skyborne’s Cerberus UAS.

It is expected that the new weaponised UAS system will improve the combat effectiveness of soldiers, while keeping them safe in hostile environments.

According to a release from the company, the system not only monitors and detects threats while keeping “human-in-the-loop” engagement, but also reduces the burden on human operators while engaging targets and undertaking post-engagement assessments.

Skyborne further outlined that the systems can undertake resupplies in the urban environment, perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance tasks in buildings and can be standardised with NATO ammunition.

The company completed the development of the system between May and July.

So far, the company has undertaken ground fire testing of the Cerberus-integrated CHAOS 12GA as well as integrated flight testing of the pair, bench demonstrations of the Cerberus UAV Next Gen Flight Computer enabled AI, and a post-process Athena AI demonstration from footage collected during flight.

The company confirmed that the findings were passed onto the UK Ministry of Defence.
