Rheinmetall and Navistar partner on bid for Canadian Logistics Vehicle Modernization program

Rheinmetall Canada and Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles confirmed that Navistar Defence Canada had joined Team 45⁰ North’s bid for the modernisation program.

Rheinmetall Canada and Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles confirmed that Navistar Defence Canada had joined Team 45⁰ North’s bid for the modernisation program.

Rheinmetall Canada and Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) announced this week that Navistar Defence Canada has joined the Team 45⁰ North (45⁰N) consortium in their bid for Canada’s Logistics Vehicle Modernization (LVM) program.

The LVM project is designed to enhance the Canadian Army’s light and heavy logistic vehicle capabilities.

RMMV’s flagship vehicle, the off-the-shelf HX, is currently in use in the Australian, New Zealand and British defence forces, as well as in Germany, Norway and Denmark. Meanwhile, Navistar has designed and developed a range of logistics vehicles, from water tankers to petroleum trucks, troop carriers and heavy equipment.

The consortium is expected to utilise Navistar Defence Canada’s expertise in defence vehicle capabilities, having delivered 1,300 militarised commercial-off-the-shelf (MilCOTS) vehicles to the Canadian Department of National Defence as part of the Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) program, as well as delivering armoured personnel carriers to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

According to a release from Team 45⁰N, if successful, the project will use a uniquely Canadian supply chain to develop the capabilities.
