Ukraine has announced the successful completion of the country’s first rental-based demining operation using a robotic system in a significant humanitarian milestone.
The vehicle was supplied by Croatian unmanned multipurpose vehicle manufacturer DOK-ING, in partnership with A3-Tech and SafeLane Global for the demining in April this year.
The MV-4 machine was deployed by SafeLane Global under Prozorro tender for a technical survey task in the Mykolaiv Oblast.
The MV-4 cleared 20,837 square metres of land, detonated one PMN-2 anti-personnel mine and exposed multiple explosive hazards, including two POM-2 mines, three 220mm rockets, one OF-49 120mm mortar bomb and one S5 57mm air-to-surface munition over the three-day course.
“The first completed deal is very indicative for other mine action operators, because it demonstrates that a robotic system can be rented even for a few days and close a large part of the work,” said the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Ihor Bezkaravainyi.
“This is how the market works – it offers different solutions for different conditions.”
A3-Tech fully facilitated the process, handling the rental, logistics and readiness of the robotic system, and remained on standby throughout for any necessary maintenance or support.
The project sets a powerful precedent for the broader adoption of rental-based mechanical demining solutions in Ukraine and serves as a clear demonstration of the strength of DOK-ING’s operational model: world-class technology, strong local support and collaboration with top-tier humanitarian operators.
With SafeLane Global expressing full satisfaction with the performance and efficiency of DOK-ING’s MV-4, the project stands as a testament to what’s possible when proven technology and experienced partners come together to serve one of Ukraine’s most urgent recovery needs.
