The Republic of Fiji Military Forces has officially departed Fiji on their way to Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 in Australia.
In the 11th iteration, more than 19 nations will participate in the bilateral combined training activity between the Australian Defence Force and the United States military from 13 July to 4 August this year.
Talisman Sabre 2025 will reportedly focus on multi-domain warfighting across parts of Queensland, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, NSW, Christmas Island and for the first time, in Papua New Guinea.
“The Republic of Fiji Military Forces reached a significant milestone in its regional defence engagement as a company of approximately 130 personnel departed Fiji yesterday (on 14 May) to participate in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 … the largest multinational military exercise ever hosted in Australia,” a statement published by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces said.
“This deployment marks a historic step in Fiji’s military diplomacy, underscoring its commitment to regional security and cooperation.
“Led by Major Jale Lacanikaibau, the RFMF Company will embed with the Australian Defence Force for an initial six-month deployment, which is expected to extend into a one-year rotational commitment.
“Fiji’s participation not only strengthens its long-standing defence partnership with Australia but also enhances the RFMF’s interoperability and operational readiness through multinational collaboration.”
Other participating partner nations include Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Tonga, and the United Kingdom. Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam will also attend as observers.
