NSW Police has seized military ordnance after searching a civilian home in Leeton, NSW.
Drugs, knives and other prohibited weapons, including extendable baton and a slingshot, were also allegedly seized after a search warrant was issued for the Lansdowne Road home on 24 July. The seized military munitions appear to include an anti-tank round, possibly from a recoilless rifle and a high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) tank round.
“(Earlier this month) investigators attached to Murrumbidgee Police District commenced an investigation into firearms, prohibited drugs and prohibited weapons in the Leeton area,” according to NSW Police.
“During the search, police allegedly located methylamphetamine, pistols (gel blasters), military ordinance rounds, a flick knife, a trench knife, a slingshot and other associated items.
“A 50-year-old man was arrested and taken to Leeton Police Station where he has been charged with possess prohibited drug, possess unauthorised firearm (two counts), possess prohibited firearm (two counts), possess unregistered firearm (pistol) and possess or use a prohibited weapon without a permit (five counts).
“He was granted conditional bail to appear before Leeton Local Court on Tuesday, 9 September 2025. Inquiries are ongoing.”
