Sydney artificial intelligence and directed energy laser technology start-up RedTail Technology has recently completed work with the Catalyst Accelerator Colorado Springs Directed Energy and Electromagnetic Warfare Accelerator mentor driven-program in Colorado.

RedTail Technology is currently involved in the development of their Katoomba counter-uncrewed aerial system directed energy system as a handheld and lightweight protection system for critical infrastructure and defence applications against hostile or unauthorised UAS platforms.

“RedTail Technology has successfully completed the Catalyst Accelerator Colorado Springs Directed Energy and Electromagnetic Warfare Accelerator,” according to a company statement.

“RedTail Technology was handpicked by the USAF and USSF to partake in the program, one of five teams to be picked globally.

“Resultantly, keep an eye out for RedTail Technology USA, coming to a democracy near you.

“A massive shout-out to the Catalyst team, in particular Shae Thomas Houston Harris and Allison Boothe, and RedTail Technology’s mentor T.I. Weintraub who not only made it possible but made it fun too.”

Late last year, the Catalyst Accelerator, powered by the Air Force Research Laboratory Space Vehicles Directorate, announced the selection of six small businesses with complementary tech solutions to participate in the Accelerator’s 15th cohort focused on directed energy and electromagnetic warfare.

The US Space Force and the Space Security and Defense Program was particularly interested in technologies that enable adaptive and predictive electronic warfare through artificial intelligence/machine learning, cognitive electronic support for robust signal identification and real-time spectrum analysis for threat detection.

During the program, each company collaborated with subject matter experts, engaged with government and commercial navigators, and completed an intensive business development and customer discovery process.

The cohort experience culminated with a demo day on 20 November last year. Other companies included Aptos Orbital, Dcubed USA, Millennial Software, Overwatch OT and Quadsat.
