Women’s Defence Connection will host its annual International Women’s Day Luncheon on Thursday, 5 March this year.

The event brings together defence industry professionals to celebrate women’s achievements and continue the conversation on gender equality across the sector.

Held at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria - Melbourne Gardens, the event marks WDC’s third annual International Women’s Day celebration, set against the backdrop of one of Melbourne’s most iconic locations.

International Women’s Day 2026 represents 115 years of collective action and advocacy for gender equality, dating back to Australia’s first IWD event held in Sydney in 1928, which called for equal pay and working conditions.

WDC continues this legacy by fostering diversity, inclusion and connection within the defence industry through events and professional networks open to all.

The luncheon will feature a keynote address by Major Liz Daley, PhD, a passionate advocate for female veterans; reflections from a diverse industry panel; and include opportunities for networking, industry connection and reflection.

Guests will enjoy a two-course sit-down lunch and a glass of welcome bubbles as part of the three-hour in-person event.

While International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements of women, WDC believes that gender equality is a shared journey. Male colleagues are warmly encouraged to attend as allies, listeners and partners in change.

The event is expected to be well attended, with previous luncheons selling out quickly. Limited tickets remain and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

Women’s Defence Connection is a professional network dedicated to fostering diversity, equality and inclusion across the defence industry, providing opportunities for connection, advocacy and professional growth.

The WDC’s annual International Women’s Day Luncheon is held from 12.30pm to 3.30pm AEDT with Major Liz Daley, PhD as a keynote speaker.
