The US Department of State has approved a possible US$83.14 million foreign military sale of 45 M30A2 guided multiple launch rocket system-alternative warhead pods to Government of Singapore.

The possible FMS was announced earlier this month with Singapore requesting the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System-Alternative Warheads and related equipment; including telemetry kits, engineering services, technical assistance, and other related elements of logistics and program support.

“This proposed sale will enhance the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a strategic partner that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Asia,” according to the US Department of State.

“The proposed sale will improve Singapore’s defensive capability to shield the allies who train and operate within their borders, improve its ability to meet current and future threats, and increase regional stability.

“Singapore will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces. The principal contractor will be Lockheed Martin, located in Bethesda, Maryland.”
