Leonardo DRS has announced a Multi-Purpose Missile Launcher; field-reconfigurable launcher designed to expand anti-armour missile capability on enduring and future combat platforms.
The MPML is designed to enable platforms using existing Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided missile launch systems to employ Spike LR2 missiles while retaining TOW compatibility.
The system includes a new lightweight TOW-based launcher, adapters for the Spike LR2 missile, and a Common Missile Control Unit.
Built as a drop-in upgrade to platforms currently equipped with TOW launch systems, the MPML is designed to help operators transition between compatible missile types more quickly without changing the launcher configuration.
Its open-systems architecture also supports future integration of compatible loitering munitions.
“MPML gives warfighters a practical path to introduce new anti-armor capability while preserving the flexibility of the systems they already operate,” said Aaron Hankins, Senior Vice President/General Manager of Leonardo DRS Land Systems.
“The launcher’s reconfigurable design supports the evolving needs of legacy and future ground combat platforms and the missions they perform.”
The system is intended for use on a range of ground combat platforms, including Bradley and Stryker vehicles, and supports modernization efforts for customers seeking greater missile flexibility without significant platform modifications.
