Under the £12 million ($21.5 million) contract, Horstman’s parent company, RENK, is expected to provide all required technical support and investment to its subsidiary, ensuring that identical Boxer gearbox products are built in the UK in accordance with established processes and procedures.

The gearboxes will then be supplied to WFEL's manufacturing facility for assembly into the new Boxer MIVs, expected to total 500 upon the conclusion of the program.

The sub-contract is estimated to generate up to 20 skilled roles across Horstman and its wider UK supply chain.

The UK’s Boxer MIV program aims to source 60 per cent of the contract’s value from within the UK, in a bid to support sovereign engineering and manufacturing skills.

The Boxer MIV is a wheeled armoured vehicle designed to support any mission module configuration with a payload of up to 15 tonnes.

Approximately 800 vehicles in various configurations have been supplied to, or ordered by, three NATO nations — Germany, the Netherlands and Lithuania – as well as Australia.
