The two companies have partnered to bid on Project SEA 1442 Phase 5 for the delivery of a modern maritime communications system.
It is hoped that the teaming partnership will produce an integrated, interoperable and resilient system for the Royal Australian Navy.
The partnership is expected to harness Boeing’s complex military communications capabilities and BMT’s maritime engineering expertise.
“Our collaborative partnership offers a seaworthy, sovereign communications system that will enable Navy to fight and win at sea,” Scott Carpendale, vice president and managing director, Boeing Defence Australia, said.
“Our solution creates opportunity for Navy to become part of a fully integrated Australian Defence Force-wide system, with access to coalition interoperability.
“The combination of Boeing’s fielded technology, collaborative development approach and BMT’s maritime design expertise, technical assurance and extensive knowledge of RAN platforms will ensure the rapid delivery of this combat-ready communications capability,” he continued.
Boeing Defence Australia is the prime systems integrator for the bid, having developed proven capabilities in denied, degraded and limited environments.
It is expected that the solution will comprise 90 per cent Australian content.
