The ASC has confirmed the appointment of a new deputy chair, with two additional non-executive directors joining the corporation’s board for three-year terms.

The ASC has confirmed the appointment of a new deputy chair, with two additional non-executive directors joining the corporation’s board for three-year terms.

The ASC has confirmed today (5 April 2022) that non-executive director Geoff Rohrsheim has been elevated to the position of deputy chair, with Finance Minister Simon Birmingham appointing business figures Julie Cooper and Denise Goldsworthy to the board for three-year terms.

With over 20 years in the IT sector, Rohrsheim began his time at the ASC as a non-executive director in 2019 having studied engineering at ADFA before serving in the RAAF as an engineering officer.

Meanwhile, Cooper currently serves as chair of the South Australian Film Corporation and Nova Systems, while also serving as a non-executive director of Credit Union South Australia, Helping Hand Aged Care, the National Board of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Adelaide Crows Foundation.

Prior to this, Cooper has worked in defence, banking and brewing.

Goldsworthy is the founder of Alternative Futures and has served in executive and leadership roles at BHP Steel and Rio Tinto. She has further worked as chancellor at Edith Cowan University, chair of Gascoyne Gateway, Navy Clearance Diver Trust and as a non-executive director on the boards of Western Power and Leichardt Industrials.

“This is a time of growth and transition in Australia’s submarine industry as we build upon ASC’s proud history, and support the enhancement of our future capability,” Bruce Carter, chairman of the ASC said of the new appointments.

According to the ASC, Goldsworthy is scheduled to join the board in May with the other appointments now effective.
