Global defence and services company Serco has announced it will continue its long-standing partnership with the United States Navy, having secured a five-year contract extension to support its amphibious warfare ships and systems. The contract is valued at approximately AU$167 million.

Under the renewed agreement, Serco will continue delivering a comprehensive suite of professional and technical services. These include engineering and program management, test and evaluation, ship design management and integrated logistics support for the Navy’s PMS 377 program, which oversees the development and maintenance of amphibious warfare vessels.

Serco has supported the PMS 377 program since 2011 and this contract win further consolidates its position as a trusted partner to defence forces globally.

Group chief executive of Serco, Anthony Kirby, said the contract retention was a strong endorsement of the company’s capabilities in maritime defence.

“We are proud to retain this contract and continue supporting the US Navy’s PMS 377 program,” Kirby said. “This win highlights our extensive expertise in the maritime and defence sectors – from delivering vital engineering, shipbuilding and technical services to assisting defence personnel through all stages of their service life, including recruitment, training, health support and the transition to civilian life as veterans.”

In Australia and New Zealand, Serco plans to leverage this global experience to deliver cost-effective, reliable services aimed at improving military readiness and sovereign capability. The company has an established presence in the region, supporting both government and defence clients through critical service delivery.

Kirby also noted the strategic importance of the contract for Serco’s global growth, saying, “We’re pleased to add to our substantial order book and to continue converting our record pipeline into tangible contract awards.”

Serco’s successful contract extension comes at a time of increased focus on maritime capabilities and allied cooperation across the Indo-Pacific region.
