The Whiskey Project Group has been awarded a multimillion-dollar contract by the United States Marine Corps to deliver its reconnaissance and tactical vessels.

The contract, worth approximately $50 million, will see the manufacturing of The Whiskey Project Group’s (TWPG) Whiskey Bravo vessels, designed for multi-mission tactical operations.

“This is a great example of Australian ingenuity delivering real-world outcomes,” TWPG chief executive officer Darren Schuback said.

“We are proud that technology developed by our team is now supporting one of the world’s leading military organisations and contributing to operations in the Indo-Pacific.”

Before being granted the deal, four Whiskey Bravo vessels were assessed against “emerging operational requirements” that the Marine Corps is facing, as well as validating modularity and operational performance.

Last June, the vessels were found to be successful in completing prototype evaluations, with some early stage vessels being currently used in Marine Corps efforts in Japan.

“The transition from evaluation to production is a significant achievement for our organisation and a strong validation of the Whiskey Bravo platform,” Schuback added.

“It reflects years of disciplined development, rigorous testing and the dedication of a team committed to delivering capability that meets the exacting requirements of the United States Marine Corps.”

The vessels will be built at TWPG’s factory in North Carolina, with primary engineering and design program efforts to remain in the hands of Australian teams.

“The Whiskey Bravo has proven itself through extensive testing; moving into production allows us to build on that success and continue delivering capability to the warfighter.”

All vessels are expected to be delivered by the end of 2027.
