Italian based Leonardo entered into an agreement with FlyKomala of Indonesia to provide an AW109 Trekker light twin helicopter, which will be utilised for disaster support, emergency services as well as passenger movement.

The announcement will bring the number of Leonardo helicopters in service in Indonesia to almost 20, with a number of AW109 Grand and GrandNew craft already in service across the country.

Indonesia-based FlyKomala provides chartered aviation services across the country, and counts a wide array of industry partners and services from mining and agriculture companies through to supporting disaster relief efforts and VIP movement.

Leonardo confirmed that the AW109 Trekker model was selected due to efficient operating costs as well as a sizable cabin and adaptable cockpit.
