Elbit subsidiary AEL Sistemas completes radio flight tests onboard Brazilian Air Force F-5Ms

AEL Sistemas, Elbit Systems’ Brazilian subsidiary, and the Brazilian Air Force successfully completed a series of flight tests for the E-LynX Airborne Software Defined Radio as part of the Brazilian Link-BR2 strategic program.

Elbit System’s Brazilian subsidiary, AEL Sistemas, this week confirmed the successful series of flight trials by two F-5m aircraft to test the integration of the E-LynX Airborne Software Defined Radio as part of the Brazilian Link-BR2 strategic program.

The Link-BR2 program was designed to provide the Brazilian military with secured datalink capabilities, enabling digital connectivity across aircraft and enhance multi-domain interoperability.

 
 

According to an Elbit Systems spokesperson, the following phase of the integration trials will be conducted onboard SAAB’s Gripen NG aircraft. It is hoped that all Brazilian Air Force aircraft will be integrated into the secure network following the conclusion of the program.

Throughout the recent tests, the airborne software  improved multi-domain situational awareness, facilitated Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) datalinks, and created a joint operation picture shared across the network.

The Brazilian Air Force expects that the increased data relay between units will greater enable target interception and shortening sensor-to-shooter loops.

The E-LynX platfrorm is a software designed radio system developed via open architecture that can integrate both unique and NATO wavefoms. The E-LynX solution has been selected by Israel, Sweden, Spain and other NATO countries to support military datalinks. The E-LynX is currently developed in three locations, in Israel, Germany and Brazil.

Earlier this month, the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) awarded a contract to Elbit Systems subsidiary Elbit Systems Sweden AB for the supply of the Albatross Combat Management Systems (CMS) following a competitive tender process.

Elbit has been tasked with integrating the CMS across the Royal Swedish Navy’s Spårö Class mine countermeasure (MCM) vessels over a period of 34 months.

The Albatross CMS is billed as a scalable open architecture system, which leverages Elbit’s E-CIX platform to enable commanders and operators to receive a common operational picture correlating underwater detection and surface tracks.
