Its local companies, Cadgile and Kadego Engineering, both specialise in digital engineering services and enabling Industry 4.0. The new educational partnership will focus on both immediate and anticipated skills needs in detail and manufacturing design.

A key area of interest will be encouraging more students to undertake traineeships, training and delivering graduates with industry-relevant skills, such as 3D CAD design skills.

TAFE SA chief executive David Coltman said that the partnership will ensure there is greater clarity about the skills needs of industry and promoting the sought-after career opportunities.

“Working with experienced industry partners will ensure our curriculum and skills development aligns with the growing needs of industries, including those in defence and shipbuilding. The collaboration and resource sharing between both parties will provide great opportunities for our students, ensuring they are job-ready for careers in engineering and manufacturing design,” Coltman said.

“TAFE SA has a strong track record of supporting the training needs of the naval shipbuilding industry, which makes this alignment with Groupe FIVA a really exciting opportunity.”

Groupe FIVA director general Serge Boniface said, “This MOU furthers our global collaboration on engineering and drafting skills needs.

“We will be happy to deliver a traineeship program, and as we plan to hire more than 60 people in the following three years, we hope this will attract talented students and employees into careers in digital engineering, design and drafting.”

Cadgile general manager Gary McRae said that the MOU comes at an exciting time for the company.

“We’ve just joined forces with another leading CAD company called Kadego, so if you are a young person coming into our group, you have got exposure to the entire digital engineering spectrum,” McRae said.

“We are doing virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D printing, 3D laser scanning, so it’s a great time to be working closely with TAFE SA.”

Kadego general manager Gavan Doyle said, “It’s an exciting time for our Australian and French business partnership and we look forward to building on this activity with the new educational partnership with TAFE SA and ensuring that students are prepared for long careers in engineering and manufacturing.”
