The Victoria-based university has secured a deal to provide academic services to the ADF.
The Department of Defence has confirmed that Deakin University has been selected as the preferred tender for the Australian War College Academic Agreement.
As part of the contract, which commences in January 2023, Deakin University has been tasked with providing academic and support services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), Australian Public Service (APS) and international military students.
The deal supports the 2020 Force Structure Plan, and is expected to generate job opportunities across the country.
“Deakin University will help deliver training and education to the future workforce of the ADF and APS,” Commander Australian Defence College, Major General Mick Ryan said.
“The contract ensures the continuation of world-leading joint professional military education to our people and invited international partners, to prepare them for the future challenges their careers will bring.”
The Australian War College, located in Weston Creek, ACT, was set up to provide key leadership and professional development training across two flagship courses – the Australian Command and Staff Course and Defence Strategic Studies Course.
Students attending the War College comprise Australian Defence Force personnel, Australian Public Servants from Defence and other agencies and international military personnel.
