It is expected that the integration of the technology will take place at the end of the year.

In addition to providing and integrating the medical devices, ZMS was also contracted to train staff and conduct ongoing maintenance.

“Here we offer wide-ranging capabilities for integrating highly advanced medical technology, with an extensive array of products enabling us to supply complete turnkey field hospitals. In the contract just awarded, we will be equipping the field hospital at the forward operating base in Gao with state-of-the-art medical technology.

“We are keenly aware of the importance of this mission, which is to ensure that our troops deployed in Mali get the best-possible medical care.”

The subsidiary was originally acquired by Rheinmetall in 2021, and reflects Rheinmetall’s ambition to support the Bundeswehr’s international footprint.

Further to the medical technology that the company is contracted to supply to the Bundeswehr, ZMS also specialises in providing customisable shelters for militaries, including field kitchens, decontamination sectors and communications housing.

The group hopes that the establishment of the new Rheinmetall International Projects and Services Unit, which oversees ZMS, will serve as a “one-stop shop” to provide services to an international market, including running military bases, logistics services, supporting surveillance and even providing support personnel.
