RUAG Australia has announced the completion of its third Supplier Continuous Improvement Program (SCIP) Cycle Business and Operational excellence assessment.

The assessment, which aims to improve companies’ performance and competitiveness in the defence industry, tested RUAG’s continuous improvement program, with its senior leadership team participating in over six months of diagnostic assessments and workshops.

Participants engaged employees, assessed benchmark performance, established continuous improvement strategies and flagged gaps in the operational process.

According to RUAG Australia, its overall business excellence score improved by 22 per cent, while its operational excellence score improved by 46 per cent compared with the previous SCIP Cycle 2 results.

The key performance indicators (KPIs) for the business excellence assessment included leadership, strategy, people, partnerships and resources, processes, products and services, customer results, people result, society results and key results.

KPIs for the operational excellence assessment included management commitment and shop floor results.

RUAG Australia now has the opportunity to apply for CDIC grant funding.

“These outstanding results demonstrate our dedication to continuous improvement, creating customer value, corporate social responsibility and our structured project management approach to solve complex problems,” Terry Miles, general manager of RUAG Australia, said.

In April, RUAG Australia was selected to support the Defence Industry Secondment Program, which seeks to broaden the expertise of Defence members and further relationships between Defence and defence industry.

RUAG Australia supplies the Royal Australian Air Force with maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and manufacturing services.
