The defence company has achieved a new milestone after welcoming its latest cohort of graduates.

The defence company has achieved a new milestone after welcoming its latest cohort of graduates.

Over 100 graduates have now been onboarded by Nova Systems since the program launched in 2016, with 34 new graduates welcomed.

The graduates will now be provided with the opportunity to rotate work placements across a range of markets, including defence, emergency services, and space.

The graduates come from diverse backgrounds in integrated logistics support, engineering, project management and finance.

Nova Systems CEO Jim McDowell welcomed the new cohort, noting the importance of harnessing local potential.

“To ensure Australia has the skills we need for the future, we have to invest, develop and nurture the brightest minds of graduates today,” McDowell said.

“The Nova Systems graduates keep us on our toes as they see things differently and challenge our way of thinking.

“We embrace the opportunity to teach and mentor as much as we embrace the opportunity to be challenged ourselves.”

Of the new graduates, 12 will be based in Canberra, 15 in Melbourne, three in Brisbane and four in Adelaide.

Among the graduates is electrical and aerospace engineering graduate Gabriel Simpson in Canberra who also studied mechanical engineering and astrophysics.

“I have high hopes of working my way towards helping develop Australia’s space capabilities,” he said.

Mustapha Chahine also joins the Adelaide office after working as an aerospace intern in the Resilient Flight Control program at Defence Science and Technology.

Further, Jayden Stevens has returned to Nova Systems in Adelaide after completing work experience in the business during 2019 and 2020.

Stevens is a mechanical engineering and finance graduate with a background in farming and the wine industry.

Applications for the next round of Nova Systems Graduate Development Program are set to open in early April 2022.
