Supported by Zeppelin’s 90 employees and production facilities, Rheinmetall hopes that the company’s expertise will help broaden Rheinmetall’s offerings in the market, including providing capabilities to support the development, construction and management of forward operating bases for deployed forces.

In fact, Rheinmetall hopes that the acquisition will enable the company to undertake a suite of options for forward operating bases. Such options include planning and furnishing, construction, surveillance management as well as operational and logistical oversight. Rheinmetall noted that once the mission has been completed, the company will oversee the deconstruction of the facility.

Rheinmetall believes that the acquisition will cater for an international growth market.

“In line with a global trend, armed forces and other essential users are increasingly turning to service providers to supply support activities other than core military tasks. Experts assume that annual volume in this market segment comes to around €350 billion,” a release from the company read.

Rheinmetall Project Solutions, the entity into which Zeppelin is expected to integrate, was designed to provide an array of services to militaries from within the single entity, “including operational support, depot logistics and the disposal of unused ammunition”.
