As a direct result of the AIC Showcase, BAE Systems and Saab Australia have issued several Requests for Quotation to Australian companies, a strong endorsement of local capability and expertise relevant to the LAND400 program.
BAE Systems is positioning its AMV35 as the optimal solution for the Defence’s LAND400 Phase 2 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle program, and local SMEs are keen to support the company’s offer.
Over the last four and a half weeks BAE Systems, joined by its teaming partners and supply chain partner, received nearly 400 pitches from Australian companies from across the country.
Adam Watson, industrialisation manager for LAND400 at BAE Systems Australia, explained, “The AIC Showcase has proven to be of tremendous value to Australian companies interested in applying their capability to support LAND400. We have seen many compelling presentations from Australian companies keen to win a slice ofLAND400.
“From the BAE Systems Australia perspective, the end game of the AIC Showcase is simple – that we, as the largest defence prime in Australia, support wholeheartedly a solution for LAND400 that delivers maximum local content for the Australian vehicle production.”
BAE Systems’ solution for LAND400, the AMV35, possesses high levels of Australian industry capability, leveraging the company’s already extensive domestic supply chain and demonstrated experience building armoured vehicles in Australia.
Following successful development and execution of combat vehicle project delivery in several locations, BAE Systems and Patria were able to bring direct experience in national roadshows to the AIC Showcase.
Janne Pulkkinen from Patria said, "Delivering local manufacturing solutions in several different countries is second nature to us at Patria. We have a proven technology transfer program that is refined and improved each project we deliver. This means very high levels of local manufacture and very low risk to the customer."
