Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles has partnered with Slovakias CSM Industry to release a new high-mobility multipurpose excavator, developed for combat engineering and disaster relief taskings.

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles has partnered with Slovakia’s crane and excavator specialist CSM Industry to unveil a new multipurpose excavator, developed for deployment in combat engineering and disaster relief taskings.

According to Rheinmetall, the new capability was based on the HX 8x8 and has a UDS 214 excavator build-on capability. The build-on can pivot 360 degrees and is fitted with a telescopic arm that is able to extend to a reported 14.60 metres and carry some 7.5 tonnes.

Rheinmetall has confirmed that the excavator is an off-the-shelf capability and weighs 28 tonnes in total, coming equipped with a MAN D2676 diesel engine reaching speeds of up to 90 kilometres per hour.

The cab has SATANG protection levels with ventilation but can have additional protection via the company’s Integrated Armoured Cabin (IAC) optionality and remote weapons stations.
