Babcock Australasia has appointed a new program director to oversee the company’s strategic maritime partnership with the NZ Defence Force.
Babcock Australasia has appointed Mark Worsfold as program director – strategic maritime partnerships, following 35 years of service in the Royal New Zealand Navy.
His most recent posting was as Logistics Commander (Maritime).
His new role will oversee New Zealand’s Maritime Fleet Sustainment Services program. The company is the strategic maritime partner to the NZDF, providing asset management services that include engineering, project management and operational support to the nation’s fleet.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mark to the Babcock team after working closely with him over many years through Babcock’s partnership with the RNZN. His detailed knowledge of the New Zealand sustainment enterprise will enhance operational effectiveness and leadership of the team,” David Ruff, chief executive officer of Babcock Australasia, said.
“Mark will play a fundamental role in maintaining Babcock’s position as the premier warship sustainer in the region. He will leverage Babcock regional and global capability to bring best practice and value to the New Zealand program,” said Ruff.
It is expected that Worsfold will oversee the Maritime Enterprise Sustainment Team which supports New Zealand’s fleet.
Worsfold explained that he was looking forward to joining a company that aligns with his personal values.
“I have enjoyed my time with the Navy, so I am delighted that I can continue [to] support the sailors and their operations and activities through my next chapter with Babcock,” he explained.
