Lockheed Martin has secured a five-year, $147.6 million contract modification to provide Mk41 vertical launching system (VLS) components to US Navy and international military clients.

Lockheed Martin has secured a five-year, $147.6 million contract modification to provide Mk41 vertical launching system (VLS) components to US Navy and international military clients.

This modification covers Mk41 VLS electronic parts originally designed for a number of the US Navy’s surface combatants, including the Arleigh Burke Class destroyer and the Ticonderoga Class cruiser. External sales have been secured to international customers, including the governments of Finland, Germany and South Korea. 

The Mk 41 VLS is a multimissile, multimission launcher, designed for the launch of SM-2, SM-3, SM-6, Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles, Tomahawk, and Vertical Launch ASROC missiles. The contracting activity is the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, DC.

Contract work is expected to take place at numerous US locations through to March 2025. The deal will be financed through a combination of funding from Naval Sea Systems Command, as well as $29.53 million of Foreign Military Sales funding from the above-cited offshore sales.
