Northrop Grumman has been selected by prime contractor Eastern Shipbuilding Group to deliver C5ISR systems for the US Coast Guard’s new Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC).
As the C5ISR systems integrator, it is expected that Northrop Grumman will deliver enhanced communications, navigation, data, cyber and computing systems for use onboard the OPCs
Vice president, maritime systems and integration at Northrop Grumman Todd Leavitt commended the efforts of the Northrop Grumman team.
"With C5ISR and control system test and integration underway, the ESG-Northrop Grumman team hasn’t missed a beat,” Leavitt said.
“The effort and resiliency shown by our teammates at Eastern Shipbuilding Group has been outstanding.”
The announcement comes following the agreement between Northrop Grumman and the US Navy for the delivery of 18 additional GQM-163A ‘Coyote’ supersonic sea-skimming target vehicles.
“We are committed to supporting US Navy fleet readiness with our high performance, supersonic Coyote target vehicles,” Rich Straka, vice president of launch vehicles at Northrop Grumman, said.
“Our design integrates a solid-fuel, air-breathing ducted rocket propulsion system with high performance avionics capable of emulating multiple scenarios to prepare and protect our warfighters against evolving threats.”
The ‘Coyote’ system is currently managed by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), and has been launched 81 times.
