The increasing trend of the mechanisation of armies in Asia offers a number of opportunities and major challenges. There have been many developments in the region towards armoured fighting vehicles and infantry fighting vehicles to effectively transport and support troops in the battlefield. It is clear that armour and infantry integration is very important in the development of armies in Asia. Seen as force multipliers, mechanised forces still face a number of challenges including operational doctrine, technology and implementing the full integration in terms of technology and force structure.
