South Australia-based business Implemento, which services the aerospace and defence industries, has signed a partnership agreement with a global software provider.

Epicor Software Corporation's agreement with Implemento is part of its regional expansion plans to promote its industry-specific enterprise software.

As part of the agreement, Implemento will resell the global enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution Epicor ERP, and will manage implementations.

Implemento said it will target midmarket manufacturing enterprises and will resell customised and optimised Epicor ERP solutions to help its customers in the defence industry supply chain to achieve a strong return on their investment.

The move comes just a week after the release of the government's Defence Export Strategy, which Epicor said will help strengthen Australia's industry.

"The Australian government recently announced its new Defence Export Strategy which aims to rapidly grow the country’s defence export industry," said Greg O’Loan, regional vice president ANZ for Epicor Software.

"It’s great to see an increased focus from the government on strengthening the Australian defence manufacturing industry. We look forward to partnering with Implemento to provide ERP solutions to assist companies in this sector to grow further through the use of technology."

Implemento director James Black said the anticipated boom of South Australia's defence industry will see ample opportunity for the SA-based business to work with companies within the defence industry supply chain.

"The South Australian defence industry is set to boom in the coming years, particularly in light of the recent announcement by the government," Black said.

"Midmarket manufacturers in the defence industry supply chain will have to invest in agile technology in order to meet this future demand. Reliability and compliance are absolutely essential, and Epicor helps customers in this industry manage those processes more effectively by delivering a single source of truth, and one platform to manage all operating information. We’re excited to partner with Epicor to offer our customers an ERP solution that will help them take advantage of growth opportunities while minimising risk."
