BAE Systems Australia and Australian software developer 12thLevel have teamed-up to optimise big data, artificial intelligence and analytics to enhance maritime sustainment decision making.

BAE Systems Australia and Australian software developer 12thLevel have teamed-up to optimise big data, artificial intelligence and analytics to enhance maritime sustainment decision making.

The collaboration aims to explore ways to enhance information availability and analysis to support strategic decision-making and readiness.

The firms are expected to focus on streamlining capacity to receive real-time data on maintenance delivery activities, while also developing in-depth seaworthiness analysis capability.

 
 

The project can reportedly be adapted to support land, aviation and cyber domains in the future.

Due to the generation of data increasing exponentially across all Defence platforms, development of new technologies is key, according to Andrew Gresham, director of defence delivery at BAE Systems Australia.

“So it’s important that data can be collected effectively and distilled quickly into meaningful information to support critical decision making in real time throughout the maritime sustainment ecosystem,” Gresham said.

“We are committed to enabling smart sustainment for future defence capability, enabling our customers to make data-driven decisions that will optimise seaworthiness outcomes.

“We are also delighted to be working with a leading Australian technology company in doing so, building Australian capability in data and AI will be crucial to our future sovereign defence supply chain.”

Andrew Cleary, 12thLevel CEO, welcomed the new partnership, noting the benefits for both the firm and the broader defence community. 

"We’re proud to develop and deliver solutions that can be rapidly deployed, to support efficient and accurate decision making in operational settings,” Cleary said.
