A series of blast tests on the AS9 and AS10 Huntsman family were successfully concluded last month following testing on the AS10 Armoured Ammunition Resupply Vehicle by Plasan of Israel, with ongoing support from Hanwha Defense Australia and the Republic of Korea’s Hanwha Aerospac
The Huntsman family is under procurement by Australian Army as part Phase 1 of LAND 8116 Protected Mobile Fires program, including the AS9 Self-Propelled Howitzer and AS10 Armoured Ammunition Resupply Vehicles.
Testing on the vehicles commenced in November 2021.
According to Hanwha Defense Australia, testing consolidated the development of the mine blast protection system ahead of the Detailed Design Review.
The AS9 and AS10 vehicles are expected to be built at the Hanwha vehicle Centre of Excellence near Avalon Airport, which is currently under construction. Hanwha Defense Australia has confirmed that the build program is ahead of schedule.
The program will draw on an Australian supply chain, supporting the production and then ongoing maintenance of this important land capability.
