TAS Symposium to explore need for disruptive and transformative innovation in Defence

World events, particularly the conflict in Ukraine, highlight the importance of unmanned systems for Defence and the role of rapid innovation in delivering this capability.

Without disruptive and transformative innovation, we will not be equipped to develop the accelerated capability necessary to meet the challenges posed by the current geopolitical climate.

Initially funded through the Next Generation Technologies Fund (NGTF), and further supported by Queensland Government, Trusted Autonomous Systems (TAS) has been at the forefront of building an innovation ecosystem in the robotic, autonomous systems and artificial intelligence (RASAI) field.

Since 2018, TAS-led collaborations among Defence, defence industry and researchers have seen the conversion of new technologies to Australian Defence Force (ADF) capability. Its not just us that think this, in February TAS were named Finalist in the AAUS - Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems Industry Champion Awards 2024 for the leadership category.

TAS’ track record in partnering to deliver innovation includes the Consunet DUST (now part of AIR6500 with Lockheed Martin), Athena AI (now being incorporated into defence products with US Defence suppliers) and BAE Systems TAGVIEW (subject of recent media with M113 Optionally Crewed Combat Vehicles).

Next month, TAS will host its annual Symposium bringing together leaders from the RASAI field to explore the symposium’s theme: ‘Disruptive and Transformative Innovation’.

With TAS’ future in Defence innovation uncertain, take this opportunity to hear from, and mix with, TAS partners and collaborators. The Symposium will be held on 27 March at Customs House in Brisbane. Register here to attend this not-to-be-missed event.
