Australian owned and operated company EPE supported the 42 for 42 Afghanistan War Memorial Garden working bee this weekend, with a team of EPE volunteers participating alongside the 42 for 42 volunteer board to finalise the Afghanistan War Memorial Garden ahead of the inauguration in late July.
The War Memorial Garden is a monument recognising the sacrifice of all those who served on Operation Slipper, including those 41 Australian soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan, the working dogs who died during the operation as well as those who have passed since returning home.
The memorial is tucked away beside Suncorp Stadium, and offers peaceful and quiet reflection for those who visit.
The working bee follows EPE’s long support for the 42 for 42 charity. At Land Forces in June this year, EPE held their Annual Fundraising Event to raise money for the not-for-profit, which was founded by Afghanistan combat veterans to help the families of those who had fallen during and following their service.
At the Annual Fundraising Event, Adagold Aviation, Andrew & Skye McKay, Craig & Kara Chudleigh, the Penrose Family, PWR Advanced Cooling Technology, Brisbane Broncos, University of Southern Queensland, Norwell Motorplex and Rheinmetall supported by donating cash and auction items in support of the group.
The Afghanistan War Memorial Garden is expected to be formally opened on Saturday, 24 July with big screens inside Suncorp Stadium televising the opening as well as an online live stream.
