Defence taps XTEK for SUAS support

The Commonwealth government has ordered supplies from the ASX-listed company for its fleet of aerial drones.

The Commonwealth government has ordered supplies from the ASX-listed company for its fleet of aerial drones.

XTEK Limited has received a new $8.1 million purchase order from the Commonwealth of Australia’s Department of Defence for small unmanned aerial systems (SUAS) spare parts for existing SUAS fleets.

A two-year extension option has also been signed for the SUAS Support Contract, extending the deal to July 2024.

XTEK’s group CEO Scott Basham welcomed this latest order for spare parts and the subsequent contract extension.

“The spare parts to be purchased under these orders will be held in our state-of-the-art SUAS repair facility in Canberra and will be used to keep this important SUAS capability operational for Defence for years to come,” he said.

This latest deal comes just weeks after XTEK’s HighCom Armor Solutions business received a US$33 million (AU$46.8 million) purchase order from an undisclosed country.

The deal reportedly involves the delivery of “tens of thousands” of individual advanced ballistic protection items.

This followed the award of a separate $9.5 million deal to supply its HighCom body armour products earlier in the same week.

The products, billed as “ultra-lightweight and “high-performance”, are manufactured at the company’s advanced manufacturing site in Columbus, Ohio and supported by the patented XTclave capability in Adelaide, South Australia.

The deals took the total value of ballistic armour sales to over $50 million since 1 March 2022.
