In response to feedback from a number of Defence prime contractors, the DTC has partnered with the duMonde Group to create and deliver an Industry Development Program that aims to assist businesses, particularly SMEs, to become more competitive and successful in the pursuit of growth opportunities in the defence market.
The courses, delivered by duMonde Group and arranged and funded by the DTC, have been sponsored by three founding members of WA's Henderson Alliance; IKAD Engineering, Marine Technicians Australia (MTA) and Pedco.
Henderson Alliance representative Darryl Hockey said the support from DTC has been instrumental in helping WA SMEs gain access to important opportunities within the defence industry.
"Early in 2017, the alliance formed a close relationship with DTC as both parties strongly believe in industry collaboration to optimise the economic benefits which will flow from increased SME participation," Hockey said.
"Fuelled with highly-technical resource industry skills, there is a powerhouse SME community in WA eagerly waiting for the opportunity to play its part in the naval build and sustainment programs – all they need is some calibration and fine-tuning to make them defence-ready.
"So we have worked very closely with DTC to help facilitate the introduction of their services and training courses into WA – not just for the benefit of Alliance members but also for the WA defence community as a whole."
The four courses being run by DTC and duMonde Group are:
- Doing Business in Defence: A highly focused and practical foundational course designed to give individuals and business from all backgrounds the essential insights they need to be more successful business winners in this critical economic market. It will directly assist those looking to enter or grow their presence in the Defence sector by providing them with “must know” information on the “what, who and how” aspects of doing business in this challenging, yet rewarding industry.
- Successful Strategic Planning: The Successful Strategic Planning course is designed to help organisations achieve sustainable success in an ever-changing and competitive marketplace. It aims to equip key decision-makers with practical tools and techniques needed to plan for the organisation's future, build short and long-term value and deliver strategic outcomes.
- Successful Business Winning: This course will breakdown and simplify the business winning processes and provide tested and dedicated approaches to improve your company's overall success rate. Ultimately, it will equip you with the necessary knowledge and tools to dramatically enhance your proposal/ tender management, writing skills and overall "business winning" capability.
- Successful Trade Shows: duMonde’s workshop provides trade show delegates of all levels of experience with the essential insights on how to transform trade show attendance into a significant business winning opportunity. The course aims to breakdown and simplify the Trade Show process by taking attendees and exhibitors through an easy to follow set of recommended steps and exercises, designed to optimise performance at these events and enhance overall success rate.
All courses are held from 10am to 4pm at the AMC Jakovich Centre, 4 McGrath Road, Henderson.
