With Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 (TS19) set to kick off in the next few weeks, Defence Connect will show off some of the moments from the last iteration of the bilateral exercise, back in 2017.

The combined Australian and US training activity is in its eighth iteration this year, and consists of a field training exercise incorporating force preparation (logistic) activities, amphibious landings, land force manoeuvre, urban operations, air operations, maritime operations and Special Forces activities.

The exercise is designed to "practice our respective military services and associated agencies in planning and conducting Combined and Joint Task Force operations, and improve the combat readiness and interoperability between Australian and US forces".

The majority of TS19 exercise activities will take place in the ADF Shoalwater Bay Training Area, as well as the surrounding state forests near Rockhampton, Queensland, from late June to early August 2019.

Exercise activities in Shoalwater Bay Training Area and region will commence from early July and peak during 11-24 July 2019.

Other events will take place around Stanage Bay and the Capricorn Coast, Whitsunday region (Bowen, Proserpine and surrounding areas), Mackay region (including south of Sarina), Bundaberg and surrounding region, the ADF Townsville Field Training Area and the ADF Evans Head Air Weapons Range.
