Defence announces contract winners for ADF health centre upgrades

Kane Constructions and Joss Constructions have secured contracts to deliver upgrades to Australian Defence Force facilities.

Kane Constructions and Joss Constructions have secured contracts to deliver upgrades to Australian Defence Force facilities.

Joss Constructions has been awarded a $16.7 million contract to build a new health centre at the Puckapunyal Military Area, with work to begin in the coming weeks.

“Joss Constructions has committed to using local businesses for at least 93 per cent of its sub-contract work, which is great news for the local community,” Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price said.

Construction of the new health care facilities at Puckapunyal Military Area is scheduled to commence in late 2019, with completion anticipated by late 2020.

“The construction of the new health care facility will ensure the Australian Defence Force is able to provide quality health services for its personnel,” Minister Price said.

“The facility will include primary care including mental health and rehabilitation, inpatient unit, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dental, general support, external works and range response.”

Similarly, Kane Constructions will begin work on a new health centre at Simpson Barracks, Watsonia, after securing a $15.7 million contract with Defence.

Construction of the new health care facilities at Simpson Barracks is also scheduled to commence in late 2019, with completion anticipated by late 2020.

“The facility will house primary care including mental health and rehabilitation, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dental, general support, external works, and Joint Health Unit Headquarters,” Minister Price said.
