Commander of the Australian Defence College (ADC), Major General Mick Ryan, has congratulated this year’s graduates of the Defence and Strategic Studies Course.

The year-long residential course provided officers of the Australian Defence Force, Australian Public Service and overseas participants with the knowledge and skill required by senior leaders and managers engaged in national security issues.

MAJGEN Ryan congratulated the class, which this year included 22 international students representing 18 countries, who undertook the course in preparation for senior leadership appointments.

“Today’s graduation marks the culmination of a year’s study exploring strategic security issues of global, regional and national importance,” MAJGEN Ryan said.

“The ADC is a forward leaning and strategically orientated institution. I know these graduates have been prepared well intellectually for their future as senior leaders in their organisations.”

The course focused on global, regional and national security issues; strategic defence policy and planning; civil-military relations and strategic leadership and management, and provides the foundations for future senior leaders in Defence.

The Defence and Strategic Studies Course is partnered with Deakin University to deliver a variety of relevant post-graduate degrees.
