Nova Group has confirmed the appointment of two new board members in a company statement released this week.

Software, aerospace and professional services firm Nova have confirmed the appointment of two non-executive members to the company board, with the expected commencement date of 1 July 2021.

The two new non-excutive board members to the Nova Group are Mark Gill and Martin Broadhurst.

Group chair Jim Whalley outlined that the pair will bring significant expertise in the technology, cyber and defence industries to Nova Group.

“We’ve added extensive skills and experience to our Board and we’re excited by the  collective expertise they will bring to Nova Group as we continue to execute our strategy,  enhance value for our clients and position the company for long-term growth and  profitability,” Whalley said.

Mark Gill, who will be based in Brisbane, has served in senior executive roles in a number of technology companies, both within the private and public sector.

“His expertise in telecommunications, space, networking, storage and security domains will  be a welcome addition at a time when we are looking to build and grow our existing  technology solutions,” Whalley said.

Meanwhile, Martin Broadhurst, who will serve on the board out of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, has served as an executive across a number of leading organisations, and holds deep expertise in the defence and aerospace industries.

“Martin’s international business leadership and growth experience in both the public and  private sector, including with Ultra Electronics Group, will be invaluable,” Whalley said.

The appointment comes two months following Nova Systems' announcement that it had been approved to provide safety training to the Capability Aquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) across 10 courses. The training is expected to be provided to some 200 CASG employees.

“Nova has been providing system safety training to Defence Industry and CASG for over 10 years,” Steven Robinson, Nova Systems Australia and New Zealand chief executive, said.

“Since we were recognised as a Registered Training Organisation, we have delivered system safety training to almost 400 people, truly growing sovereign capability in this critical and complex skillset.

“Our instructors are experts in their fields and have real world knowledge and experience to help our clients solve complex challenges. It’s the professionalism and expertise of our trainers, who love to impart their knowledge to our clients, which is our point of difference.

“We’re committed to growing truly sovereign capability, and we know that being able to train professionals in complex capabilities, such as System Safety or Test and Evaluation, is fundamental to growing and maintaining a resilient in-country industrial base."
