The US$27 million contact between Elbit Systems and the Swedish Defence Material Administration for the delivery of 120mm ammunition is scheduled to last 10 months.
Under the contract between the company and the Swedish Defence Material Administration, Elbit Systems agreed to provide the Swedish Armed Forces with 120mm M339 rounds as well as Data Setting Units for the country’s Leopard Main Battle Tanks.
The contract is valued at US$27 million and is expected to last 10 months.
According to the company, the M339 is a high accuracy 120mm tank ammunition that is compliant with NATO 120mm smooth bore battle tanks.
“I believe that this selection by Sweden underscores the growing recognition by Western armies of the unique quality of our portfolio of products,” Yehuda Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems Land, said.
The announcement comes off the back of a large month for Elbit’s global business units.
In mid-March, it was reported that the Canadian Department of National Defence has tasked Elbit Systems UK with supplying its TORCH-X based Battle Management Application (BMA) to support the country’s Airspace Coordination Centre Modernisation (ASCCM) project.
Specifically, Elbit Systems UK will be responsible for supplying a joint-air version of its TORCH-X BMA to provide situational awareness by displaying a local or recognised air picture, enabling effective co-ordination of air assets into complex land and joint battlespace.
The system is set to leverage Elbit Systems’ E-CIX open architecture framework to enable connectivity to the Canadian Armed Forces’ legacy applications and tactical datalinks while also allowing future integration of new applications.
